Public declaration of the Barony of Baltersan
A public statement connecting the baronial research with the stewardship and cultural future of Baltersan Castle.
On 29 November 2025 Angelo Ovidi published a declaration asserting a claim to the historic baronial dignity associated with Baltersan and setting out the historical reasoning being pursued around the castle and its title history.
The statement placed that research within the wider restoration mission rather than presenting it as an end in itself. The emphasis was on protecting the building, creating a future school of art and music, supporting traditional skills and providing educational and apprenticeship opportunities.

The declaration described the work as a continuation of research begun under the castle’s previous stewardship and referred to the study of charters, later references and the relationship between Baltersan and its wider feudal history.
A motto for transformation
The project adopted the Latin motto Omnia mutantur, nihil interit — “all is transformed; nothing perishes” — as an expression of the restoration philosophy.
