Baltersan Castle welcomes a new Laird
The announcement of a new stewardship chapter for the castle and an early outline of the cultural vision.
In September 2024 Baltersan Castle entered a new phase of stewardship when Angelo Ovidi took over Lichtsome Hoose Ltd and responsibility for the castle.
The first public plan was intentionally broader than the repair of masonry. It proposed a future school of music and arts, renewed traditional crafts, local training and employment opportunities and the revival of the old orchards around the site.
Continuity rather than a clean break
The new chapter also depended on the decades of care and documentation carried out by the previous custodian. The purpose of the transfer was not to rewrite Baltersan’s past, but to give the long preservation effort a new route forward.
