Conservation planning
Help with professional assessments, historical documentation and planning for appropriate conservation works.
Over four hundred years of Scottish history deserve a future. Your voluntary contribution supports the work of caring for Baltersan Castle and planning its conservation.
Built in 1584, Baltersan is a remarkable surviving tower house near Maybole. Today the castle needs sensitive stewardship, specialist advice and resources to protect its historic fabric. We want a future that also embraces heritage, music, traditional skills and community participation.
Contributions are voluntary support to the castle's private owner, not charitable gifts. Please read the full explanation below before contributing.

Nature of payment: A voluntary, non-equity contribution to help the company meet the Baltersan-related purposes described on this page. It is not a purchase, investment, loan, or donation to a registered charity.
Gift Aid and tax: Gift Aid cannot be claimed on these contributions. No claim is made that contributions are eligible for charitable tax relief.
Ownership and control: Contributing does not confer shares, title, occupation rights, control of the castle, or influence over the company's decisions.
Use and limits: Contributions will be recorded in a dedicated accounting category and intended for Baltersan conservation-related planning, care and heritage activities, including properly attributable professional and administrative costs. They will be received into company funds, not into an independent charitable trust or legally segregated trust account. No particular construction work, completion date, public access or regulatory approval is guaranteed.
Sale or change of plans: The castle is privately owned and may be transferred or sold. If circumstances change materially, the company intends to publish an update explaining the effect on supported activities. A voluntary contribution does not create a claim on the property or sale proceeds.
Refunds: These are voluntary contributions, normally not refundable after processing, except where required by law or expressly agreed. Please contact us promptly if you paid in error.
